Unplug to Reset: My Sauna Routine for Mental Clarity

Whenever I am in the sauna, I notice something.

I am always the only one without my phone, and it is always intentional. I leave my phone behind because this is MY time.

There is something powerful about choosing to unplug, especially in a world where we are always scrolling, always stimulating our minds, and always taking in information. The sauna has become my space to decompress, sweat it out, reflect, and breathe without any digital noise. It is my weekly ritual. It is the release of one week so I can enter the next with a clearer mind.

And honestly, sometimes I even get emotional in there.


When I sit in that heat with no distractions, everything I suppressed throughout the week comes to the surface. The thoughts I ignored. The feelings I pushed down because life got busy. The stress I thought I handled. Being unplugged forces me to hear myself again. It is uncomfortable, but it is healing.

I will journal, stretch, and move through a few light yoga poses when I feel called to. It helps my nervous system reset and gives my mind a moment to settle. It is a form of intentional wellness I did not even know I needed until I started doing it regularly.

Meanwhile, everyone around me is on their phone, scrolling, watching videos, and answering messages. And there I am, breath steady and mind open, letting myself feel instead of hide.

Stepping away from your phone, even for 30 minutes, can give you a quiet moment to reconnect with yourself.


It reminds you that your body is always speaking to you.

Your mind is always asking for space.
Your spirit sometimes needs silence.
